A Look at the Panasonic TX-P42X10 TV
Though only one step above Panasonic’s entry level range of large flat screen TVs, the Panasonic TX-P42X10 is a perfectly respectable screen and for a very reasonable price as well. Rather than making use of the now increasingly popular LCD Technology, this is actually a plasma TV.
Unlike many competing products on the market, this is not actually an LCD screen. Rather, the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 is a plasma screen which is a completely different type of technology. Plasma televisions have a number of advantages over LCD, most notably that they don’t have a limited viewing angle as many LCD screens have.
The deciding factor in the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 for many people is its refresh rate. The refresh rate of a screen is very important because the higher it is, the higher the frame rate can be which means smoother playback and it’s going to be much easier and your eyes. The Panasonic TX-P42X10 has refresh rate of 100 Hz which is twice as much as what you will find on many other competing products.
Due to its price, the TX-P42X10 does not have the full high definition playback. That certainly doesn’t mean that it is not future prove however. It is a high definition ready, meaning that it will happily play everything on the market today but not are quite the same resolution as you would expect with a much more expensive screen. For the most part, this makes little to no difference for the vast majority of viewers.
Although the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 does not look like anything special from the outside and it is rather bulky even for a screen of its size, it does have some very attractive options which makes up for it. Picture processing techniques are all the rage these days and most flat screens have advanced picture processing techniques built in. This includes Panasonic’s highly respected and well known technology which allows the screen to be more versatile by automatically altering the contrast settings depending on the ambient light in the room.
As with many Panasonic screens, the TX-P42X10 also comes with a number of other nice features. It has all the things you would expect such as a PC input and everything else but in addition to this, it also comes with an SD card reader. Although very minor feature, this certainly is a welcome addition since it allows you to simply put your memory card from your camera into the screen into the pictures directly on the screen.
With built in stereo speakers and SRS true surround, the Panasonic TX-P42X10 also has a very respectable audio system. Nonetheless, if you are spending money on a 42 inch flat screen television, you probably want to spend a bit extra to get a nice 5. 1 surround sound system. Since almost all movies these days are encoded in Dolby digital, to get the most out of them, you need to have a surround sound system which will render the inbuilt speakers obsolete anyway.
In conclusion, the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 is a good all round performer. You also don’t have to worry about the disadvantages of LCD such as a generally lower viewing angle.
