Warcraft Class Guide. A Beginners Guide to Playing a Warrior.

Many new players start with Warriors as their first class. Indeed early in the game, whilst levelling up it can seem a simple class to play. However, once you start playing in groups and raids, the warrior takes on a whole new role.

Playing a Warrior in a group of players, you need to understand your role. Warriors in groups have only once real role to play, that of ”tank”.

A Tank’s job is to stand at the front and take on the biggest enemy in the room in a melee Absorbing the anger and damage that the main threat to the group is throwing at you. And of course surviving

The Warrior is not really as damage causing class. In a raid your job will be to absorb damage. It’s about being the spearhead of the team. Others behind you will perform the other two main roles.

Some of your team mates will be charged with keeping you healed. The main healing focus for priests and other healing classes in your raid will be the tank. You will be absorbing massive amounts of damage, therefore you will need constant healing.

Others in your group will be causing as much damage to the foe as possible. Normally from range. So while you are in the think of it, the ranged DPS (Damage per second) characters will be doing most of the killing for you

If the raid is a large one you will have other roles as well. ”Off tanks” whose job it is to take threat off secondary enemies that are too much of a threat and need to be dealt with. Also ”CC” classes – crowd control. These players have talents that freeze, stun, morph or otherwise manage to keep groups of the enemy from being able to co-ordinate.

In summary, ”tanking” is the main role of a warrior. Take on the biggest enemy. For that you need very high stamina and massive amounts of plate armor. You use ”threat” to make sure that the baddest mobs in the room target you.

Far from being an easy role. Being a good tank is about the hardest aspect of play. The success or failure of most raids comes down to you being able to stand up to the ”Boss” mobs, and make sure they focus their damage on you.
